To find an accurate and simple method to diagnose primary intraocular lymphoma.
We prospectively analyzed concentrations of interleukin-10, interleukin-1, interleukin-2, interleukin-4, and interleukin-6 in vitrectomy specimens from three patients with primary intraocular lymphoma and five patients with uveitis by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
Interleukin-10 in the vitreous was detected in patients with primary intraocular lymphoma. Interleukin-10 levels correlated with clinical activity and the number of malignant cells.
Concentrations of interleukin-10 in the vitreous may be a helpful clue to both clinicians and pathologists in diagnosing primary intraocular lymphoma.
