A review of reflex sympathetic dystrophy and related syndromes.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy and related syndromes such as sympathetically maintained pain and causalgia are often confused and over-diagnosed. In an effort to set ground rules and recommendations on these conditions, an attempt is made here to explain the clinical findings and recommendations for treatment. The goal of this article is to aid in reduction of inappropriate diagnosis and subsequent inappropriate management.
