Abstract

Thermoregulatory activity of motor units was investigated in the cat mm sartorius and semitendinosus on the 7th and 14th days after lumbar sympathectomy. The EMG pattern did not change after gangliotomy but a statistically significant prolongation of the interspike intervals occurred on the 7th day indicating a growing instability of the motoneuronal pool activity. These changes tended to restore on the 14th day. Processes affecting the thermoregulatory activity of the motor units after sympathetic denervation, are discussed.
