Technical considerations for MR imaging of the hand and wrist.

The important technical factors involved in the MR imaging of the hand and wrist are reviewed. The magnet, gradient system, and radiofrequency coils are discussed especially with regard to obtaining small fields of view. The properties of the various pulse sequences including spin echo, fast spin echo, and gradient echo are reviewed, and their uses and potential problems are described.
