We present a new technique of cutaneous ureterostomy. The results of application of this method and its advantages over prior methods are discussed.
We applied this method in 15 patients with tumors in the pelvic region and 3 with spinal cord injury between January 1992 and January 1994.
A tubeless state was achieved in more than 90% of the patients.
The technique described has a wider range of indication than prior techniques and decreases the risk of stomal stenosis arising from postoperative ureteral tension.
