Feasibility of use of neural xenotransplants from the vertebrates and invertebrates in fundamental research and neurosurgery is considered. This was found possible for invertebrate embryonal neural tissue in combination with fetal human brain tissue. The results of two-year follow-up of parkinsonian patients subjected to xenotransplantation and transplantation of fetal human tissues are discussed. The use of the molecular genetic mutants of different species as xenotransplants in surgical treatment of human nervous diseases proved promising.
