Starting from the colorimetric data of some particular microscopic dyestuff the subtractive color spaces of a number of typical histologic stains are calculated. These results are compared with color specifications of corresponding stained preparations. Thereby, it will be tried to explain the position of color values of stained specimens on the outside of the color spaces or areas.
