St. Louis area Medicaid HMOs discuss managed care plus (MC+).

The medicaid Managed Care program (MC+) will be implemented in stages across the state of Missouri. In the St. Louis area the enrollment process began June 1, 1995. HMOs will be paid on a capitated basis by the State of Missouri Division of Medical Services (Medicaid). HMOs may pay physicians on a capitated or fee-for service basis. Individuals have 30 days to change HMOs after enrollment. There will be an annual open enrollment period for those who choose to switch HMOs. MC+ will begin operations in St. Louis on September 1. The auto-assignment process will begin August 15. The remaining unenrolled population will be parcelled out according to the following percentages: [table: see text]
