CO2 Laser Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP) is a safe and effective, ambulatory treatment for snoring, performed under local anesthesia. By means of multiple sessions, the LAUP progressively enlarges the airspace of the oropharynx, reducing the bulk of the vibrating soft palate and wide posterior tonsil pillars. Advantages are that it is simple, reliable, painless, bloodless and outpatient. Disadvantages are the multiple sessions, the high technical effort, and Laser costs.
