In a randomized, double-blind, six-week, crossover comparison, fenoprofen (200 mg to 600 mg every six hours) had similar efficacy to aspirin (325 mg to 975 mg every six hours) in the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis affecting the spine, hip, knee, or shoulder. Both fenoprofen and aspirin had greater efficacy than placebo. The overall incidence of side effects was similar during aspirin and fenoprofen therapy.
