The present article attempts to understand medical care as a service. It is not the doctor's work which is of primary interest for the demanding patient but the result of the treatment. Applied to the quality assurance in medicine this means that medical treatment as an integral whole and the patients' satisfaction have to be considered as a standard judgement to a greater extent than to date.
