The prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers can be assisted by assessing the knowledge and caring of caregivers as well as by assessing the risk of patients. When assessing patients with pressure ulcers, it is perhaps as important to assess psychological factors and support systems as it is to assess the usual physical factors. Dividing patients into a passive pressure ulcer group and an active pressure ulcer group leads to better quality of treatment outcomes.
