The purpose of this study was to identify the scope of management responsibilities, health education, and early education for handicapped children, as well as clinical and program dimensions of the school nurse role. Changes in responsibilities over the last five years were explored in one state by utilizing a questionnaire aimed at providing a profile of the school nurse's perceived behavioral patterns. In every dimension of the school nurse role included in this study, the responsibilities of the school nurse had either increased or stayed the same on an overall basis.
