Peculiarities of voluntary control of tactile-kinesthetic memorizing were studied in children under school age. No sex differences were revealed in retention of the images in children aged 4-5. Girls at the age of 5-6 showed a remarkable growth of memorizing capacity in comparison with boys of the same age. Thus, the age of 5-6 may be considered as a critical period for developing voluntary memory in girls but not in boys.
