An integrated, computerized equipment management system based on a HIS platform can be developed with the cooperation of a hospital's data processing department. The goals and objectives for system development are based on the needs of individual departments. The resources available for meeting those goals and objectives vary from one institution to the next. When resources can be obtained from the data processing department, all the management tools and information needed by the technician can be readily available anywhere within the institution.
