Experiments on 120 albino rats have been performed to evaluate relations between intraepidermal macrophages (IEM, Langerhans' cells) and other skin components in normal and deep long-term hypothermia conditions, under skin regeneration. It was found that IEM have permanent contacts, by means of their processes, with a dermal capillary network. Due to hypothermia and trauma these contacts got reduced. Hypothermia results in a drastic decrease of the Langerhans' cell number in the skin.
