Commonality analysis was used to examine relationships between global and perceived measures of parents' involvement in learning and the aspirations of 516 16-yr.-old Australians. Analysis indicated that, while adolescents' perceptions of parents' involvement had strong associations with their aspirations, such relationships should be examined within environmental contexts assessed by more global measures of parents' involvement.
