[Changes in ultrastructure of Escherichia coli under the effect of certain antibiotics].

Ultrastructure of the cells of Coli bacteria after their contact with cephaloridin, ampicillin, gentamicin or kanamycin was studied by means of electron microscopy. Differences in the changes of the submicroscopic structure of the cells under the effect of the antibiotics, the inhibitors of the cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis were shown. Differences in the ultrastructural changes under the effect of the same antibiotic on grampositive and gramnegative organisms are discussed.
