As advanced practice nurses take a more significant role in health care reform, efforts may be needed to educate the public about their advanced nursing skills, knowledge, and expertise. A television public awareness campaign featuring advanced practice nurses can be used to highlight such expertise and knowledge. A Wisconsin district nurses association coordinated a television campaign consisting of seven, 1-minute television spots to air on the evening news during Nurses Week in 1994. Each spot focused on an advanced practice nurse and his or her clinical practice.
