A clinical trial is being conducted in which single, nightly doses of 10 mg or 25 mg of clomipramine are added to the conventional analgesic therapy of patients with chronic painful conditions of the locomotor system. The initial impression has been obtained that the pain threshold of such patients can be modified by the addition of low doses of clomipramine and that, as a result, daily doses of analgesic may be reduced.
