Cost awareness in emergency department nurses.

Incomplete charging of supplies was found to be responsible for significant dollar losses in the Emergency Department. A cost containment committee developed several strategies for cutting costs ranging from buying less expensive products to various educational efforts. Some improvement was noted and further research studies were designed to increase employee awareness of the cost of various items.
