We simply cannot be put in a position in which we are forced to choose between our sons and our daughters with regard to the provision of educational opportunities--including educational sport. Sports participation provides many significant psychological, sociologic, and physiologic benefits to girls and women. Girls and women need to be encouraged to play sports and must be provided with the same opportunities as are available to boys.
