Thirty patients suffering from essential hypertension were treated successively with placebo, hydralazine alone, and pindolol (Viskén) combined with hydralazine. As compared to placebo hydralazine brought about a statistically significant reduction in blood pressure and an increase in pulse rate; palpitation was an irritating side-effect. Combining hydralazine and pindolol caused an additional fall in blood pressure (2 p less than 0.001) and the pulse rate decreased (2 p less than 0.001). This combination treatment had a favourable effect on the palpitation and angina pectoris also.
30例原发性高血压患者先后接受安慰剂、单用肼屈嗪以及吲哚洛尔（心得静）与肼屈嗪联合治疗。与安慰剂相比，肼屈嗪使血压有统计学意义的下降，心率增加；心悸是一种令人不适的副作用。肼屈嗪与吲哚洛尔联合使用使血压进一步下降（P<0.001），心率降低（P<0.001）。这种联合治疗对心悸和心绞痛也有良好效果。
