Observations on the gross morphology of a plug in the cyst wall of metacercariae of Sphaeridiotrema pseudoglobulus (Digenea) and on the presence of metacercariae within empty snail shells suggest a novel mode of transmission. Waterfowl may acquire infections by ingesting empty snail shells containing viable metacercariae.
