Abstract
Most individuals with cystic fibrosis now survive into adult life, presenting challenges for all concerned. Advances in understanding the molecular basis of the defect have yet to fulfill their promise and in the meantime attention to all physical and psychological problems should continue to improve survival and quality of life.
