Research assessing the presumed meanings of M, FM, or m was examined. Since the research did not support the presumed meanings of M, FM, or m, it could be concluded that any interpretation of the psychological meaning of these movement responses is being done on the basis of unsubstantiated belief. Strategies of research to explore the meaning(s) of the various movement responses were discussed.
