A patient with a congenital oesophageal cyst and heterotopic pancreatic tissue adjacent to the cyst is presented. This finding supports the embryogenic hypothesis presented by Lewis and Thyng, according to which congenital oesophageal cysts develop from persisting small diverticula of the foregut, which often contain heterotopic pancreatic tissue.
