An iliac vein confluence anterior to the aorta may simulate a mass in the right para-aortic region anterior to the aortic bifurcation on abdominal computed tomography (CT). Administration of i.v. contrast medium and the use of contiguous sections overcomes this potential pitfall in the assessment of nodal spread of neoplasia.
