Symptomatic biliary tract disease in the pregnant patient has always been problematical. The advent and widespread application of laparoscopic cholecystectomy has led to a re-evaluation of the role of surgery in this clinical situation. We report on the use of laparoscopic cholecystectomy on a patient in the first trimester of pregnancy.
