Exogenous norepinephrine sensitivity is markedly increased in mesenteric veins of the rat during late pregnancy. Venous sensitivity to norepinephrine is highly dependent on intravasal venous pressure. Elevation of intravasal pressure profoundly increases norepinephrine sensitivity of mesenteric veins in pregnant rats.
