[Results of surgical treatment of benign non-epithelial tumors and cysts of the esophagus].

Based on questionnaires, roentgenological and esophagotonokimographic studies the authors present an analysis of the results of surgical therapy in 33 patients showing benign non-epithelial neoplasms of the esophagus. Comparative data on the frequency and character of pathological signs appearing prior to and after surgery are reported. The necessity of a differential approach to formulating indications to surgical treatment of benign esophageal tumors and cysts is emphasized, since serious functional disorders arising postoperatively should be warranted by the rationality of a surgical intervention.
