Available clinical reports suggest that antimalarial drugs may cause epileptic seizures as an adverse reaction in susceptible individuals. Epileptic patients and others with a low seizure threshold appear particularly prone. Antimalarial drugs, particularly chloroquine and mefloquine, should be used with caution by patients with epilepsy.
