Baboons confronted with a snake show signs of extreme fear accompanied by transient increases in arterial blood pressure and heart rate and prolonged renal vasoconstriction. This cardiovascular response may be habituated, although in one baboon the renal vasoconstrictor response reappeared towards the end of 14-day period.
