[Parenteral feeding at an interdisciplinary surgical intensive care unit (organization and practice)].

This paper described the organisation and practical application of parenteral nutrition in a multidisciplinary intensive care unit. The selection of intravenous fluids is discussed, with particular reference to amino acids. The techniques of assessing the i.v. fluid requirements and of balancing input and output are explained. A table of basic requirements is included.
