The grooming behaviour of rats includes different kinds of movements: scratching, licking, washing, shaking down, stinging out. All the parameters of these movements (their quantity, duration, and rhythm) were registered by graphic recording and may be objective indices of ontogenic development of grooming and the basis for the study of the mechanisms of grooming regulation.
