Tetanus and the need for an improved treatment.

A retrospective study of 98 patients with tetanus treatment in Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital, Gujrat, over a period of three years (1973-75) is presented. The results of treatment are discussed. The mortality rate of 47% for the series is high as compared to the results obtained in advanced countries. A need for specialized centres and a well organized programme for the prophylaxis of tetanus in the whole country is emphasised.
