Ophthalmic nursing in Saudi Arabia: a western expatriate's perspective.

The purpose of this first article in a series "Ophthalmic nursing in Saudi Arabia: A western expatriate's perspective" is to acquaint readers with Saudi Arabia and the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh. In subsequent articles, the various challenges which face both the expatriate nursing staff and the local Saudi nurses in this setting will be addressed.
