The purpose of this final article in a three-part series "Ophthalmic nursing in Saudi Arabia: A western expatriate's perspective" is to acquaint readers with some of the cultural challenges confronting the expatriate nursing staff when educating Saudi ophthalmic patients at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The foreign nurse is able to plan and provide patient education that is culturally compatible, by possessing an increased awareness and understanding of the diversity in Saudi culture and how it influences their healthcare beliefs.
