A mixing technique for the preparation of whole blood samples of known oxygen saturation is described. The technique, which uses basic equipment and a very simple procedure, is capable of accuracies better than +/- 2% across the full range of saturation and is extendable to use with other applications with only slight reductions in accuracy.
