On the basis of their own findings and literature the authors attempt to give a survey of transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD) described by Grover. The occurrence, etiology, histological types and other features of TAD are discussed with special attention paid interest to its relation to malignant tumors of internal organs. 18 cases of TAD with concomitant internal malignancy have been reported up to now. According to the authors TAD is loosely associated with neoplasm of internal organs. It is suggested that all patients suffering from TAD should be investigated for underlying primary condition (i.e.tumors) and direct immunofluorescence studies may be helpful to clear the etiology.
