Child psychiatry is a relatively new medical profession in Israel. For many years adult psychiatrists treated children and adolescents without official recognition of the profession. The development of child psychiatry in the medical world, the determination of colleagues and support of outstanding child psychiatrists from abroad (Professors Solnit and Noshpitz) led to the acknowledgment and official recognition of child psychiatry by the Scientific Council of the Israel Medical Association in 1981. Almost all graduates in child and adolescent psychiatry in Israel fill responsible positions and prove the necessity for more child psychiatrists and child psychiatry in the medical and psychiatric system both in hospitals and in the community.
儿童精神病学在以色列是一个相对较新的医学专业。多年来，成人精神科医生治疗儿童和青少年，但该专业并未得到官方认可。医学领域儿童精神病学的发展、同事们的决心以及来自国外杰出儿童精神科医生（索尔尼特教授和诺什皮茨教授）的支持，促使以色列医学协会科学委员会于1981年认可并正式承认了儿童精神病学。以色列几乎所有儿童和青少年精神病学专业的毕业生都担任着重要职位，这证明了无论是在医院还是社区的医疗和精神科系统中，都需要更多的儿童精神科医生和儿童精神病学专业。
