North American blastomycosis in South Africa: a case report.

Blastomycosis dermatiditis, or North American blastomycosis, is rarely encountered in the Republic of South Africa. In view of the increasing number of reports of this disease from other parts of Africa and the rest of the world, one wonders whether North American blastomycosis is not a misnomer. It should perhaps be included in the differential diagnosis, particularly in cases of refractory skin ulceration.
