[Anaerobic infection of the maxillary sinus complicated by phlegmon of the orbit].

A male patient presenting acute left-side purulent masillary sinus and orbital phlegmon is described. Anaerobic flora is demonstrated microbiologically. Emphasis is laid on the necessity of opportune operative treatment, adequate antibiotic therapy and team work with microbiologists and ophthalmologists.
