Effects of ossification processes on the incidence and specific features of injuries to sublingual bone, thyroid and ring-like cartilages were studied by stereomicroscopy of the skeletal preparations of these anatomical formations for the first time. The results of examination of cases with hanging permit us doubt the opinion universally acknowledged in forensic medicine that the possibility of injuries of the sublingual bone and laryngeal cartilages increases with their ossification.
