[Acute treatment of non-metabolic complications after surgery of the thyroid gland].

Non-metabolic complications after surgery of the thyroid gland must be known because of their specific character. Frequently not only the health but also the patient's life depend on an early and correct solution. The authors discuss different complications and recommend a solution. They conclude that satisfactory anatomical knowledge, adequate surgical training and an experienced anaesthesiologist are with regard to the frequency of complications in thyroid surgery much more important than the type of operation.
