Abstract

Giving bad news to patients with cancer may generate stress in doctors, who use distancing tactics. The causes of this anxiety come from social conventions and its consequences affect both doctors and their patients. There is no "gold standard" by which stress may be overcome during the interview but we offer some suggestions that may help.
