Sealy and his colleagues performed the first surgical treatment for WPW syndrome using the epicardial mapping in 1969. Recently the theory of arrhythmia was become known and the computer technology advanced, then the surgical technique for the arrhythmias (i.e. WPW, ventricular tachycardia, AV nodal reentry tachycardia, atrial tachycardia and PVC) was made rapid progress. This surgical progress might assist the technique of the catheter ablation. After the establishment of catheter ablation, the number of surgical case decreased rapidly. Therefore the young cardiac surgeon dose not know how to operate the arrhythmias. The impartation of our knowledge is a problem. Recently maze procedure for atrial fibrillation was established. So the research of atrial and ventricular fibrillation will make rapid strides.
