The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the applications and management of simple splints and casts that can be used in general practice. There are newer, somewhat more expensive splinting materials available such as fibreglass, (Scotchcast) and polypropylene (Dynacast). The indications and use of these products will also be discussed.
