Nutrition and chronic renal disease in children.

Nutritional therapy has a major impact in slowing the rate of progression and in alleviating certain complications of chronic renal diseases. This review will summarize the advances in the recent decade concerning the use of vitamin D metabolites in the treatment of renal osteodystrophy, the use of dietary therapy, the action of growth hormone and general recommendations on treating the child with chronic renal diseases.
