Proceeding from an analysis of the results of studies conducted during the recent years the rationale of using an insulin-glucose-potassium mixture during the initial hours of myocardial infarction was substantiated on the grounds that it may result in a reduction of the necrosis zone at the expense of restoration of the damaged zone. The employment of this mixture in 13 patients with acute myocardial infarction demonstrated its beneficial effect upon the clinical state of the patients, ECG changes, dynamics of concentration of free fatty acids and glucose in blood.
